Hari Raya Cards - 3rd installment

This card taken at different angle with three festive lights is for the Malay discipline teachers
from the Board of Prefects.

This card is for the school counsellors who always work very closely with the discipline teachers. This year the school counsellors did a camp for the prefects to which I am extremely grateful. It was a good camp and the chief counsellor was really good in her talks. If there is another chance I would definitely get her to give another motivational talk to encourage the prefects to carry on with their almost thankless task.

Hari Raya Cards - 2nd installment

Hi everyone, this is my 2nd installment of Hari Raya cards. I actually have done a lot of cards and I found doing cards a really fulfulling and statisfying experience. I hope you will like them and find inspiration to do your own cards.

These two cards are for two very wonderful Malay friends.

Cards with dolls in Chinese costumes (2nd installment)

These are parts taken from the cards to show you my quilling which I am so proud about. Quilling is beautiful but it definitely needs lots of patience. Let me remind you that you do them only when you are free, otherwise you will get really frustrated twirling those tiny strips of paper on a toothpick.

You see the flower on her collar? Yeah, these flowers are actually nail stickers. I find them so beautiful and perfect for my dolls. Even the ear rings are nail stickers. I go crazy buying them, spending lots of money.

If you asked me if I have done any sales, well, to be honest - just some cards.

Cards with dolls in Chinese costumes

Hi friends, it is 11.30pm Malaysian time but here I am at my computer furiously uploading a set of photos. I am so excited because I finally found out how to edit the photos to make them sharper. I was so upset that I couldn't take photos like what I usually see so I have actually spent the whole day taking photos and out of 40, only perhaps 2 or 3 will turn out well. It was so frustrating until now.

I hope from now onwards you will get to see better quality photos from me.

Hari Raya Cards

This teacher has a name tag. Cute eh?

These are teachers in my group. I have also drawn myself - the one behind the two; the one with red bead necklace. Ha Ha Ha. I have a blouse with that pattern

Different settings play on the colour and light of the photo.

div>Let me introduce the teachers to you.

The teacher in blue baju kurung is Puan Yeow Sat Lee and she teaches Chinese language. Next to her is Vasanthi, an Add Maths teacher and then it will be Puna Foong Yin Kheng. She teaches the Malay language.

Behind Puan Yeow Sat Lee is me. The teacher next to me is Miss Lim Mei Cheng. She loves to dress in blouse and flair skirts. She teaches English, just like me. At present she is the English Language Head of Department, a post I held for 10 years. Not a really nice post. The last teacher is Miss Mageswari who teaches the Tamil language. We are a close group in the school.

My Hari Raya Card representing the Stuff Club of my school to the rest of the Malay stuffs and clerks wishing them

SELAMAT HARI RAYA

These two cards took me an entire week to do. It was painstakingly slow but it was really therapeutic to a tired soul. At the end of it, whether teachers and stuffs will appreciate them or not, it doesn't really matter but I have enjoyed myself and recharged myself to face the daily grind of being a teacher of this modern 'Y' generation who doesn't care too hoots about teachers. In fact while those days the students were really afraid of the teachers, today we have to earn their respect and should not be proud to apologize if wrong. I have done it countless times even though sometimes it was none of my fault.

Apologizing does not mean I have lost. It simply calms the situation and the angry child. I will normally bring up the subject of contention later, explaining the situation and helping the child to see things in a different light.

I teach 17 and 18 year old students but in my eyes, they are still young and very often lack the foresight so how can I hold grudges against even the naughtiest and sometimes the provocative ones who make every effort to hurt and annoy you. This type can really drive you up the walls and you wish so much to land a sharp smack on his face. But of course no student ever succeeded in making me lose my cool. Not that I am a good teacher. It is because, I view them differently.

Cards with dolls in Costumes

This set of photos depict a Nyonya costume. You will notice that her blouse is rather transparent. It is always the case. Sometimes to emphasize the beauty of the blouse, ladies wore black bras.

This photo is the same as the one above but one was taken with the flash and the other without. However I found that I am not too good with my camera. Sorry.......... Just wanted to share with you how light plays on images.

This set shows a lady of high status who normally wears very simple but the cloth material will itself shows you the status. Sometimes they don't fully cover their heads.

I have a colleaque who wears her baju kurung and with the headgear tied in this way so this card was drawn with an inspiration from her. She is a lovely lady who is now well into her term. She is going to deliver her baby in October. We all hope that she will have a princess. She has 4 heroes who wrecked havoc in the house. Ha Ha Ha Life must be pretty interesting for her. Ha Ha Ha

This card was made for a teacher who helped me the entire week when we were on duty. Yes, teachers take turns to do duty the entire week. We handle students and take any students who might be sick to the hospital and etc.

This teacher was always there helping out and I felt really ............how can I describe my feelings? Appreciating him is not enough to convey my meaning of how deeply moved I am for his help. I bought him a small present and made him this card to convey my thanks to him. I am not sure if I have shown my appreciation clearly but I really, really do.

I have worked with so many teachers but he was the only one who really helped.

He and his wife.

I can't really just say thank-you to him alone. I have his wife to thank too. The reason is his wife can put a plug and he would listen and then I am ...........without help.

'Selamat Berpuasa' means Have a pleasent fasting month and wishing him and his wife the best.

My first quilling piece. Am really proud of it. Ha Ha Ha
